COVID-19: BASIC SCHOOLS RESUME ON 15 JAN.

President Akufo-Addo in his 21st Covid 19 update on Sunday, January 3, 2021, on the Basic schools to be open on January 15, 2021, from Kindergarten, Primary and Junior, Both Private and Public Schools.

President Akufo-Addo said all SHS 1 students will resume classes on March 10, 2021, whiles the SHS 2 and 3 students resume on January 18, 2021.

He also noted that the SHS 3 and SHS 1 students will no longer run the double-track system and the expansion of infrastructure in various schools over the past three years has brought us to this development.

However, he said the double-track system will still apply to SHS 2 students.

For Tertiary institutions, President Akufo-Addo said students should be in school by Saturday, 9th January 2021.

He said Government will ensure all schools, both public and private are fumigated and disinfected before the students go back to school and schools with their hospitals will be equipped with PPEs whiles those without health facilities will be marked to external ones.

“There will be, for now, no mass gatherings, and no sporting activities however, religious activities for students under the new protocols will be permitted. Social distancing and wearing of face masks must become the norm in our schools,” he said.

He also added that the government will provide Face masks, tissues, hand sanitizers, soaps, and veronica buckets to schools to facilitate the safety of students.

He urged all to stay safe and abide by the strict protocols.
