2019/2020 NATIONAL SERVICE POSTINGS RELEASED

The National Service Scheme (NSS) has released placement of a total of 77,962 prospective national service personnel for the 2019/2020 service year. However, the printing of appointment letters begins on Friday, 19th July 2019.

At a press conference held at the NSS Headquarters today, the Executive Director of the Scheme, Hon. Mustapha Ussif who announced it said personnel can start printing their appointment letters on Friday, 19th July 2019.

The registration process spans a period of 1 month starting from Monday, 22nd July 2019. This is to afford them ample time to register and prepare for service which officially starts on 2nd September 2019.

Of the figure, 6000 was have been deployed to the Agric sector specifically for the Planting for Food and Jobs. They were posted to NSS farms nationwide and some to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA).

On the other hand, the public sector received 66,348 service personnel representing 85.1% of the postings whereas the private sector received 11,614 service personnel also representing 14.9% of the total figure.

2000 service personnel have also been earmarked for the Poultry Entrepreneurship Programme being implemented by the National Service Scheme in collaboration with other stakeholders.

Regional Distribution

In terms of regional distribution, the Greater Accra Region, as usual, took a giant leap with 29,057 service personnel followed by the Ashanti Region with 13,628. The Upper East Region recorded the least number of posting with 2,385 and 1,303 service personnel respectively.

Due diligence

He said the scheme considered a lot of factors in posting the National Service Personnel and therefore expects that they accept their postings in good fate and serve the nation in their various capacities. He said the posting was done in conformity with the priority areas stipulated in the NSS Act and national interest.

The Executive Director urged the prospective service personnel to take note of the registration processes and comply with the laid down procedures for a smooth exercise.

Mustapha said as a measure to guard against impersonation, and possibilities of attempts to compromise the process service personnel will be required to present their school ID and any of the following national ID’s – valid Ghanaian Passport, Drivers’ license and Voter ID for verification before acceptance.
“Please note the NHIS card is not valid for this registration exercise” he stressed.

Caution

He cautioned the public and personnel to be wary of people who will approach them in the name of changing their posting. He advises that such persons be reported to the security agencies for investigation and prosecution.

Public support

He urged NSS Regional and District Director, Chiefs and opinion leaders, MMDCE, and Assembly Members to assist National Service Personnel to settle down in the host communities.
He appealed to user agencies to accept the personnel posted to their outfits to render their services to mother Ghana.

  • click on this link or Go to the National Service Posting Portal via https://portal.nss.gov.gh/check-posting
  • Enter your NSS Number (e.g. NSSGCC100105) in the required box
  • Finally, Click on the Submit button and wait for the pop-up window to open with your Posting Information.
